The river Mino lies in a natural fault thus water seeps into deeper and hotter layers and is expelled back as nice hot springs. There are quite a few dotted around the area. In Ourense these have been made available in public pools.

Here the water is cooled down from 62C to 41C and less depending on the pool you choose.

These are the dotted along the river. You can explore these by using the excellent river walk (20Km) on both sides of the river which is frequently connected by bridges.

The latest complex to be finished and given to the public is Outariz.

How to get there?

From Mer / Sober follow the signs N120 to Ourense. In Sober's famously signposted round about take the left sign to Ourense. The other one gets you there as well but in a more roundabout way.

You will come down to Canabal and after crossing the railway join the N120 to Ourense.

Climbing up to Guitara and than sloping down into Ourense this part of the N120 is a feat of engineering and offers stunning views.

In Ourense keep on the N120. On the left you pass Haley shopping centre and further on you will see the distinctive Millennium bridge.

After passing under this bridge there is a further roundabout. Here you take the second exit up hill and than immediately the first right through an underpass. If you miss it, you are on a motorway!

Follow towards a T junction and go right.

Keep following this road for quite a while. You may see sewage works on the right, than a cement factory on the left.

Look out there is parking to your right. Here you leave the car.

Follow the footpath to the foot bridge across the river Mino.

To your left and right are the pools and greens of the Termales Outariz.

If you have soaked enough or fancy a little trip, why not take the little road train - Stops a bit further than the shaded cafe - Take the train 0.75Euro and it whisks you at a sedate pace directly to the plaza major in Ourense.
The train runs in the mornings and afternoons - not during siesta time.

Soak and enjoy - you can jump into the river as well!
