How to get here - Casa de Flores / Zapatero -
Mer,54 Proendos 27460 Sober province Lugo in the Ribeira Sacra Galicia Spain
Coming from Monforte by the N120 exit Canabal or directly via the LU3201 go through Sober following direction to Gundivos (at the new Farmacia left).
Follow the road to the right and keep going. You pass a sign to Proendos and later a sign Linaran. After a small bridge you see a sign Mer to the right. You arrive at a small plaza and we recommend you park there (right arrow) as the access to our house is fairly narrow.
Alternatively in Sober you can follow the sign to Rio Sil / Doade. There are two exits to Mer on this road.We strongly recommend the 2. The 1.st is via Froxan and a very narrow passage in Froxan. You also arrive at a small plaza (picture parking left) and we also recommend you park there.
From either end keep going straight ahead. Coming from the left turn left into a narrow street or coming from the right turn right and keep going. The entrance to casa de flores is the green door to the right (No 73). We live further on at the end of the "camino" behind the gates.

Santiago de Compostela (SCQ) is the main international airport in this region. Alternatives are Vigo (VGO) with internal flights or Porto (OPO) in Portugal again with international flights or La Coruna (LCG) with connections from Heathrow (LHR) by Vueling or Asturias (Oviedo) by EasyJet (aprox. 4.5 hour drive).
From the UK Ryanair flies regularly - Stansted 3x week - Liverpool summer only.
If you like to hop and/or visit other cities in Spain checking prices at Vueling may give you some ideas.
Renfe is the Spanish national railway. Monforte de Lemos or if you require a hire car Ourense are both on direct overnight or full day trains from Madrid and Barcelona. From other cities you may have to change at Palenca.
Tip: As nowadays all air tickets are one way, why not fly into Madrid stay a day or two and take a train to us. Than take a train to Barcelona stay a while and fly back.
From the UK ferries to Bilbao or Santander leave from Portsmouth - Bilbao (longer) or Plymouth - Santander (shorter but only in summer) (check Ferry details here). Bilbao to us is about a 6 hour drive (4 hours on motorways). Santander is about 30 Minutes closer to us.
Brittany ferries run Portsmouth / Plymouth to Caen for example.
Dover to Calais and than taking the costal motorway through France is another alternative. We recommend to take an evening ferry and stay in Calais and Bordeaux on the way.
From Germany it is a long drive. Duesseldorf to us is about 2000Km.

Car hire is available at Santiago airport (Yes, they are open to meet incoming flights) and the closest to us is Ourense train station (sometimes spelled Orense). Have a look on Departures Arrivals Car Hire for a good deal.
The St. James' way or el Camino de Santiago has many starting points. To obtain "The Compostella" a minimum of 100Km need to be walked (or 200Km by bicycle).
A potential starting point to do this is Sarria a small town between Monforte and Lugo. For more details check WikiPedia St. James way
